The Mexican state of Chiapas is rich in biodiversity. The Lacandon Rainforest is next to the border with Guatemala. It is home to 20% of Mexican species. Chiapas offers colonial cities, such as Tuxtla Gutierrez and San Cristobal de las Casas, archaeological sites like Palenque, the Agua Azul Waterfalls, beaches, and places for ecotourism.
